Before celebrating its 5th edition on the island of Rhodes in Greece, the Festival European Polyphony will present its first edition in Paris, from July 7th to July 9th, 2023.
Since 2019, the Festival European Polyphony has become a must on the Greek island of Rhodes. During 2 weeks, it offers concerts, workshops, exhibitions and screenings: artists from all over Europe, chosen for their quality and artistic vision.
The medieval city of Rhodes becomes a place where disciplines, cultures and audiences meet, and instills a creative energy that favors proximity.
It is in this same spirit that the Festival moves to Paris for a program rich in emotions: concert and musical walk with the Mikrokosmos choir, exhibition on Rhodes by photographers Peggy Herbeau and Christophe Fillieule, projections and a conference on the history of Rhodes and the Dodecanese. The opportunity for the public to discover Rhodes in a sound, visual and immersive program, during a weekend, in different unusual places in Paris.
DETAILED PROGRAM
The Mikrokosmos Chamber Choir will offer the public an immersive concert on July 9 at the Saint-Eustache Church (75001) at 2:30 pm. This choir, conceived as a creative laboratory, plunges the audience into the heart of sound and movement in a staged concert that takes the audience into a dreamlike experience. The program of the concert "Le Jour m'étonne" assembles a very colorful repertoire of works from around the world. Villarosa Sarialdi by the Swedish Thomas Jennefelt, Cycle des Moissons by the Estonian Veljo Tormis or the Stabat Mater by the Spanish Manuel Ruiz del Corral...: this daring journey is created and led by the conductor Loïc Pierre, founder and musical director of the Mikrokosmos choir. The opportunity to discover a vocal concert a cappella, in movement and sound and visual poetry.
The day before the concert, the Mikrokosmos choir will take the public on a musical walk in the Parc Floral de Paris (75012) on Saturday, July 8 at 5:45 pm.
During July and August, Rhodes is exhibited to the Parc Floral de Paris (75012) for a new exhibition by Peggy Herbeau and Christophe Fillieule. "Confluence(s)" is a photographic walk, that of a dual look on Rhodes. They bear witness to the traces of its history and the wild power of the island's nature. The two photographers participated in our residency program in October 2022 on the island of Rhodes and present the fruit of their work, in free access throughout the summer at the Parc Floral de Paris (admission to the park is charged).
